Awarded a 2022 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, Alessandro Fisher was a member of the BBC New Generation Artists Scheme between 2018 and 202. An Associate Artist of The Mozartists, he won the 2016 Kathleen Ferrier Awards and was selected by Gramophone as “One to Watch” in May 2022.
He made his Salzburg Festival debut as Lucano in L’Incoronazione di Poppea and his operatic engagements have further included performances with Garsington Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, The Grange Festival (Ferrando in Così fan tutte and Fenton in Falstaff) and the Royal Opera, London (Fabio in Berenice). Regular recital engagements have included performances for Beverley Chamber Music Festival, Cheltenham Festival, Leeds Lieder, Opera Holland Park, Oxford International Song Festival, at Wigmore Hall and for NI Glenarm Festival of Voice.
His concert engagements include projects with BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Huddersfield Choral Society, London Symphony Orchestra, Nash Ensemble, Navarra Quartet, La Nuova Musica and Royal Northern Sinfonia, as well as with Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, Orchestra della Svizerra Italiana and at Stadttheater Klagenfurt.
His recordings include Theodore in Edward Loder’s Raymond and Agnes and Harlequin in Ethel Smyth’s Fête Galante for Retrospect Opera, Il proscritto for Opera Rara, L’Incoronazione di Poppea on Harmonia Mundi, Bastien und Bastienne on Signum, Roussel’s Evocations on Chandos and Portraits of the Mind (Music by Ian Venables and Ralph Vaughan Williams) on Albion Records.
Most recently released is A Gardener’s World on Rubicon Classics, the first of two discs to be produced under the auspices of the Borletti-Buitoni Trust.
Being awarded a grant by the BBT was the most amazing, positive experience. To have such faith placed in my ability was hugely career-affirming, and being able to draw on a wealth of experience from such a fantastic organisation has allowed me to develop an even greater understanding and appreciation for this profession.
