The Borletti-Buitoni Trust (BBT) is a charitable trust that helps young musicians around the world. Working internationally, the Trust supports artists and organisations through three funding programmes and a biennial award.
BBT Artist Awards and Fellowships are offered to young classical instrumentalists, chamber ensembles and singers in their 20s or early 30s that BBT’s Artistic Committee perceives as being performers of great quality and musicianship. We work collaboratively with these artists to further develop their long-term international careers. Our awards fund tailor-made projects built on rich partnerships, and beyond this financial support we offer advice and guidance, contacts and PR profile to enrich our financial support. We made our first awards in 2003 and since then we have worked with over 200 young soloists and ensemble musicians.
We are currently piloting a new funding programme, BBT Artist Encore Awards, designed to reconnect with BBT alumni artists at a later stage in their careers, by supporting their ambitions and efforts to tackle social issues and inequalities through musical projects in the communities where they live and work.
These new awards complement our BBT Community Grants, which offer financial support to charitable organisations who are harnessing the transformative power of classical music to help marginalised and underprivileged communities all over the world. Established in 2019, we have supported over 20 charities working across Europe, North America, Africa and the Middle East.
The Franco Buitoni Award was created in memory of Franco Buitoni (1934-2016) and is awarded every two years to Italian musicians who promote and encourage chamber music at home and abroad.
The Borletti-Buitoni Trust is registered with the Charity Commission as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), Charity Registration Number 1167245.
