Alexandra Conunova brings together two sides of Prokofiev’s character in this recording of the two Prokofiev Violin Sonatas, music with which she has a special affinity.  With pianist Michail Lifits, she contrasts the dark and severe First Sonata, actually finished second and premiered by dedicatee David Oistrakh only in 1946, with the brighter and friendlier Second Sonata from 1943.
