Andrew Kennedy - About

BBT is enabling me to sustain a high-level profile by funding and promoting two CD recordings that I hope will introduce a large audience to my love of singing and the sort of repertoire that I hope to continue exploring throughout my career. Such financial support alongside effective marketing and publicity and the collective experience of the BBT board cannot be quantified and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue making music to the very highest standard.

Andrew Kennedy (2007)

British tenor Andrew Kennedy enjoyed a highly successful career throughout the UK and Europe in leading operatic roles on stage, as a concert soloist and as a recitalist with many renowned pianists, before taking up the role of Music Director in 2019 at his alma mater, Uppingham School, in the English county of Rutland.

With his BBT Award, Andrew seized the opportunity to record – something he saw as a unique and valuable experience that is very much in contrast to live performance. He was also keen to show another side of his vocal capabilities in contrast to that of ‘the English tenor’ by venturing into European operatic repertoire. His first album, The Dark Pastoral, is a showcase for poetry and song from the first world war featuring works by William Dennis Browne, Eugene Goossens and Ivor Gurney (released on the Altara label), while his second featured dramatic arias by Mozart, Gluck and Berlioz (on Signum Records) and was profiled on a BBT film.

Andrew was supported with a BBT Award between 2006 and 2010.
