Ending the first day of BBT’s 20th anniversary celebrations at Wigmore Hall, 2014 Award winners, the Apollon Musagète Quartet gave “a fearsomely accomplished performance” (The Guardian) of Schubert’s String Quartet in D minor D 810, ‘Death and the Maiden.’
BBT Award winners in 2014, the members of the Apollon Musagète Quartet are joined by the Symphonieorchester Vorarlberg conducted by Gérard Korsten in Feldkirch, Austria. On the bill is John Adams’ recent concerto for string quartet and orchestra, Absolute Jest, which the quartet follows with their own composition A Multitude of Shades. Meanwhile the Quartet enthuses about the energising and magical qualities of connecting with audiences. Indeed, they feel that they can only come together “when we perform for someone and tell a story.”
