Augustin Hadelich - About

The support that I received from the BBT this past year was invaluable. I am very grateful to the BBT team for their help and advice, and happy to have found such wonderful new friends. By helping the young generation of artists realise their new ideas and projects and thereby making the world of classical music richer and more innovative, the Trust is making an extraordinary contribution.

Augustin Hadelich (2012)

Born in rural Italy to German parents and now a dual American-German citizen, Augustin Hadelich is one of the great violinists of our time. Known for his phenomenal technique, insightful and persuasive interpretations and ravishing tone, he appears extensively on the world’s foremost concert stages. Augustin has performed with all the major American orchestras as well as many of the most eminent orchestras and ensembles in Europe and Asia. His discography reflects his stylistic versatility and encompasses much of the violin repertoire, while an early GRAMMY award has led to many more recording awards and accolades. In 2021 he was appointed to the faculty at the Yale School of Music and has held teaching positions at many of the top music conservatories in the US and Germany.

BBT supported a live recording of Lalo’s Symphonie espagnole and Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, released on the orchestra’s own label. BBT also supported a London showcase concert, and his passion and delight in playing clearly comes over in Singing for Joy, his BBT profile film.

Augustin was supported with a BBT Fellowship between 2011 and 2017.
