Byol Kang And Boris Kusnezow - About

To have been chosen to be part of the BBT family is a very special honour to us. The personal guidance and generous financial support allows us in a very important stage of development to fully concentrate on our artistic goals. We are so grateful for this fortune and are looking forward to further realise our ideas accompanied by the advice of the experienced BBT team.

Byol Kang and Boris Kusnezow (2013)

Born in Austria to South Korean parents, violinist Byol Kang and Russian pianist Boris Kusnezow first met at the German Music Competition in Berlin in 2009 as winners of their respective instrumental categories. Performances, including a Carnegie Hall debut and a recording for GENUIN quickly followed.

For each instrumentalist, the BBT Fellowship allowed practical improvements – a contribution to a new violin for Byol and overhauling Boris’ piano – as well as promotional necessities, including new photographs, website and PR in Europe. As a duo BBT funded and arranged two showcase concerts, one at an IAMA Conference in Vienna and another in London. Creatively, their award funded a commission from Francisco Coll, Melisma, and their second recording for GENUIN, Romantic Impressions, featuring repertoire by Brahms, Clara Schumann and Grieg, for which Byol wrote a blog about repertoire selection.

Actively performing together until 2015, Byol became concertmaster with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and Boris pursues an active solo career.

Byol and Boris were supported with a BBT Fellowship between 2012 and 2015.
