The Consone Quartet’s debut on the LINN label marks the start of a Mendelssohn cycle, including a work without opus. Here – filmed at the recording sessions at The Menuhin Hall by Classical Media – the Consone Quartet pairs two E flat major works: the ‘1823’ quartet, composed when Mendelssohn had just turned 14 and his fifth (and penultimate) ‘official’ quartet, from some 15 years later. The BBT-supported CD will be released on 24 March.
