Diyang Mei - Video

Chinese violist Diyang Mei chose to use some of his 2018 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship to make two videos of some of his favourite repertoire. Here he performs a transcription for solo viola of the first movement of Bach’s Fifth Solo Cello Suite in C minor BWV 1011. The film was made for BBT by Simon Weir from Classical Media.

Chinese violist Diyang Mei took up his position as co-principal violist with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra in October 2019.  Joined by pianist Chiyan Wong, he plays Robert Schumann’s Märchenbilder (Fairy Tale Pictures) Op 113, the four contrasting pieces offering a suitable display for his sonorous instrument.
