Elizabeth Watts - About

Having the support of BBT has been invaluable. Not only have I been able to push forward my technique with lessons in Amsterdam, and artistry by seeing some of the best coaches there are, but I am also moving forward with plans for my own projects and ideas. It’s an amazing feeling to know I have the Trust behind me every step of the way.

Elizabeth Watts (2012)

Whether filling London’s Royal Albert Hall with the high notes of Mahler’s Second Symphony, nurturing the quietest pianissimos in an intimate venue, or taking to the operatic stage as a lyric soprano, British singer Elizabeth Watts has made her mark in the music world.  Welcomed back wherever she appears, her repertoire is wide, from Telemann to Ligeti.

With her BBT Award, Elizabeth was able to invest in practical things, from coaching to photo copyrights. But her passion project was the recording of Alessandro Scarlatti’s operatic and cantata arias for Harmonia Mundi. Con eco d’amore (With Love’s Echo) features 16 arias researched by Elizabeth and harpsichordist/conductor Lawrence Cummings, who directed the English Consort on this acclaimed album.

Elizabeth was supported with a BBT Award between 2011 and 2015.
