This foundation is unique for us, young musicians starting in our musical life. You are much more than just a foundation: I would say first that you are trusting us, which is so important for a young musician; you are advising us, and not only on musical aspects; you are helping us in the realisation of projects to the highest degree. BBT was such a precious help for me, they helped me to buy a fantastic bow, with which I can now produce such a deep and sensual sound on my Goffriler cello of 1701. I want to say thank you to all the members of BBT who have chosen me, thank you for your help, thank you for your trust, thank you for being there.
“It’s the rare performer who can bring such ease and refinement to this music, while still giving everything he plays a sense of dramatic urgency” (San Francisco Chronicle). Gautier Capuçon is a true 21st century ambassador for the cello. As well as performing internationally with many of the world’s foremost conductors and instrumentalists, he is also deeply committed to education and support for young musicians from every background throughout his French homeland.
With his BBT award Gautier purchased a new bow for his beloved cello and talked to camera for a BBT Artist profile film about the importance of such a gift to a young artist. What more could a formidably talented young cellist need or desire? BBT was delighted to fulfil his wish.
Gautier was supported with a BBT Award between 2004 and 2005.
