Hannes Minnaar - About

I feel enormously privileged to be part of the BBT family. Not only does the Trust give financial support, but also it shares its experience and advice on how to use it in the best possible way. Love for music is shared by all people involved in the organisation. Contact with any of them is warm and personal. With their wonderful help and support I was able to release a CD debut reaching a public that goes beyond my dreams. I’m immensely grateful for this!

Hannes Minnaar (2012)

Peerless in concertos – his was BBC Radio 3’s Building a Library choice as best recording of Beethoven’s Emperor concerto – and in both chamber and solo repertoire, Dutch pianist Hannes Minnaar successfully mixes and matches his career in the recording studio and live in concert. He is a member of the Van Baerle Trio, with cellist Gideon den Herder and fellow BBT alumna, Maria Milstein.

In addition to a showcase concert and photoshoot in London, BBT also supported two recordings. Firstly, Hannes looked back to the early years of the 20th century with a Ravel and Rachmaninov pairing for Etcetera Records, while for his second album he turned to works inspired by Bach, featuring composers such as Liszt, Busoni, Franck, Rachmaninov, Vaughan Williams and Grainger on the Cobra label.

Hannes was supported with a BBT Fellowship between 2011 and 2013.
