Hyunah Yu - About

The BBT Fellowship has made it possible for me to find not only prestigious management, amazing exposure to the very best venues, and unmatched financial support, but also the freedom to explore and pursue my dreams of becoming a complete and unique artist. Most importantly, I’ve gained a wonderful family in BBT where I find personal, individualised attention, encouragement, inspiration, support, renewed responsibilities and challenges to share this gift of music.

Hyunah Yu (2004)

Praised for her “effortless lyrical grace” (The Washington Post), South Korean-born American soprano Hyunah Yu is widely recognised for her versatility in concert and opera roles and her commitment to chamber music.  Particularly noted for her Bach repertoire, she was encouraged early on in her professional career by conductor Blanche Moyse, with whom she sang all the major Bach cantatas over the course of their annual collaborations.

As well as paying for publicity materials, photographs and travel expenses to attend auditions, BBT was instrumental in securing Hyunah a debut disc signing with EMI for a recording of arias by Mozart and Bach, the production of which was also supported by BBT.

Hyunah was supported with a BBT Fellowship between 2003 and 2007.
