It is truly an exceptional situation, one that provides vital support for those of us who are attempting to create and establish our own voices in today’s creative musical communities. BBT has allowed me to nourish my ideas, to develop artistic projects, and to carry forward the trust that helps realize my potential with the utmost responsibility and commitment. It is inspiring knowing that this organization’s incredible work is building bridges, spanning the gaps in our artistic journeys.
Described by the New York Times as “an artist of commanding technique, refined temperament and persuasive insight”, Lithuanian-born pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute has made the US her home while pursuing a highly successful and busy international career. She is much sought after as a chamber musician and regularly collaborates with musicians of great renown at prestigious venues and festivals throughout America and Europe.
Early in her career, BBT helped with funding for the recording of a demo CD, language courses, piano renovation, travel expenses to attend masterclasses and her first recording, Music of Tribute, an “authoritative and compelling guide” (New York Times) to the music of Alban Berg on the Labor Records label.
Ieva was supported with a BBT Fellowship between 2006 and 2010.
