Marie-Elisabeth Hecker - About

Not only is the BBT Award a unique financial aid, but it also establishes ties to great musicians and patrons. The Award inspires work on new ideas and helps me to use the financial means for productive purposes. I am very glad to have met a number of people who regularly support me, provide advice and help me to find my place in the music world.

Marie-Elisabeth Hecker (2010)

German cellist Marie-Elisabeth Hecker moves audiences everywhere with the emotional depth and warm sensitivity of her playing. As well as performing as a soloist with the world’s leading orchestras and most eminent conductors, she regularly performs chamber music concerts in various formations with fellow musicians that include, among others, BBT alumni such as Augustin Hadelich, Vilde Frang and Martin Helmchen, her husband, with whom she also co-founded and co-directs the Internationales Kammermusikfestival Fliessen.

Early in her professional career BBT was able to financially support her while she was still studying, as well as buy concert clothes and contribute to the cost of a new bow. Marie-Elisabeth also participated in BBT’s 10th anniversary celebrations at London’s Southbank Centre.

Marie-Elisabeth was supported with a BBT Award between 2009 and 2011.
