Co-commissioned for Martin Fröst by Borletti-Buitoni Trust with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Kalevi Aho’s Clarinet Concerto was premiered by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Osmo Vänskä on 22 April 2006 at London’s Barbican. Vänskä also conducted the subsequent recording, supported by Fröst 2003 BBT Award, this time with the Lahti Symhpony Orchestra and released on the BIS label.
