Mithras Trio - About

Established in 2017 while students at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Mithras Trio boasts an impressive portfolio of top prizes in addition to its BBT Award. The Trio has toured the UK, Europe and Canada and recorded extensively for radio as well as giving live broadcast concerts from several major music festivals. Praised for their dynamism in performance, the players approach their chosen repertoire “with an intensity and expressive range … often as beguiling as it was exhilarating.” (The Arts Desk). As an ardent exponent of contemporary music, the Trio has given world premieres of works by Péter Tornyai and Joy Lisney; and in November 2023 Linn Records released the Trio’s debut album, Eros, featuring works by Bridge, Grime, Erőd and Ginastera. 

The ensemble has been back in the recording studio and is drawing on BBT funding to support a follow-up disc for Linn Records, due for released in 2026, as well as developing plans for commissioning over the next years.

Mithras Trio has been supported with a BBT Award since 2024.
