Dutch pianist Ralph van Raat used some of his 2005 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship on a Naxos recording of John Adams’ piano music, the first of a growing number of discs for the label.

Scored for the uncommon combination of piano, orchestra and male voice choir, the concerto was commissioned by BBT with Dutch Broadcaster NPS and received its premiere in Utrecht on 19 February 2010, with Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic, Cappella Amsterdam and conductor Otto Tausk.

This recording was taken the following evening at Muziekgebouw Amsterdam. Naxos has also releasee a recording of the work together with complete piano works of Gavin Bryars, performed by Ralph van Raat.
