It has been such an honour to receive this award from BBT. As a young conductor growing up in London, it has provided me with not only a huge financial support, but also the opportunity to learn from one of the greatest living pianists, Mitsuko Uchida. Having the luxury to acquire scores, recordings, and books for projects that will happen later in my career has been a real blessing.
British conductor Robin Ticciati OBE is welcomed into the leading orchestras and operatic companies of the world and admired for his passion, generosity and zeal in every aspect of his musical life. Trained as a violinist, pianist and percussionist, he turned to conducting at the age of 15 under the mentorship of Sir Colin Davies and Sir Simon Rattle. Robin values the building of long-lasting creative relationships with individual soloists, as well as maintaining enduring and fruitful partnerships with orchestras and opera companies, including those with Glyndebourne Festival as music director since 2014, and tenures as chief conductor with Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and as an Honorary Member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.
As the first, and only, young conductor to receive a BBT award, he wisely invested in his future career by way of building his personal music library of scores and books, as well as using part of his Fellowship to sponsor Aurora, his first professional orchestral affiliation.
Robin was supported with a BBT Fellowship between 2005 and 2007.
