I am extremely grateful to BBT for awarding me a Fellowship. It has made a hugely significant impact on my development as a musician and provided invaluable support to the very early stages of my career. Good advice and stability, and to have had the opportunity to sing through Lieder with Mitsuko Uchida, and to receive her counsel about how best to proceed in the classical music world, have been especially appreciated. My deepest thanks to all at BBT for their continued support and guidance.
Praised for his “huge, resonant voice and a huge presence” (The Times), British-Irish baritone Ronan Collett enjoys a lively operatic career. Since becoming a member of the ensemble of the Stuttgart State Opera in 2012 he has made Germany his home, moving on from Stuttgart to Theater Aachen in 2019. He also appears regularly on opera stages and as a recitalist throughout Europe and in the UK, Australia and Japan.
Ronan’s BBT Fellowship helped him by providing support at the start of his career with funds for coaching, vocal scores, language courses and other necessities such as a replacement laptop. He was also invited to the Verbier Festival Academy as part of BBT’s support of its Chamber Music Programme from 2006 to 2009, where he won the Prix Thierry Mermod for Voice in 2006.
Ronan was supported with a BBT Fellowship between 2006 and 2010.
