Although a disc combining the music of Brahms and Schoenberg might appear an unusual coupling, the two composers share a deep musical kinship. With some of his 2005 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award pianist Shai Wosner interleaves two sets of their short works with intriguing results as part of his debut disc for Onyx.

Commissioned for Shai Wosner by Borletti-Buitoni Trust, as part of his 2005 Award, Michael Hersch’s Piano Concerto, entltled ‘Along the Ravines’ was given it’s world premiere in Seattle, with Wosner accompanied by the Seattle Symphony, under Gerard Schwarz.
