It was a huge honour to be chosen for a BBT Award and to be welcomed into a family of such high calibre musicians. We are excited to embark upon the challenges we have set for ourselves and to realise the projects which would have otherwise not been possible.
UK-based Trio Isimsiz is consistently praised as an ensemble of “well-matched players who demonstrate exquisite ensemble playing in their performances” (The Strad). After its formation at London’s Guildhall School of Music & Drama (where they later became Fellows), Trio Isimsiz quickly established a network of prestigious music festivals and recital venues throughout Europe and the UK that welcome them back time and again, as well as further afield in countries such as Argentina and China; all of which is testament to their poised and impassioned playing and innovative programming across the piano trio repertoire.
Trio Isimsiz is also committed to new work and used part of its BBT award to help fund a new piano trio from Spanish composer Francisco Coll which it premiered in Madrid, receiving a warm reception and critical acclaim. It was also included in the repertoire of the Trio’s final disc of a three-volume set of recordings for Rubicon Classics, each of which focused on one of Brahms’ piano trios alongside varied repertoire, from Takemitsu on the first disc to Fauré and Schubert on the second, and Korngold and Coll on the third (the last two also supported by BBT). As another tribute to the Trio’s approach to new work, the Trust made a short film that captured the rehearsals and the UK premiere of the Francisco Coll trio in Aldeburgh, including interviews with the players and the composer.
Trio Isimsiz was supported with a BBT Fellowship between 2018 and 2023.
