Trio Mondrian - About

We feel honoured and lucky to have been chosen by BBT for a fellowship. Through the support of this wonderful organisation we were able to have our ‘Prison-Break Tour’. At the moment we are working on the production of a short promo clip and video recordings of both live and studio performances. Thank you so much for helping us grow!

Trio Mondrian (2010)

Founded in 2007 by Israeli musicians pianist Ohad Ben-Ari, violinist Daniel Bard and cellist Hila Karni, Trio Mondrian quickly made its mark on the international chamber music scene. Widely praised for its stylistic precision, adventurous programming and rich ensemble sound, Trio Mondrian performed at many festivals and prestigious recital halls in Europe, as well as regularly in Israel.

The BBT award enabled the Trio to break away on a tour which included a showcase concert arranged by the Trust (one of two in London). Its recording of the Ravel and Shostakovich piano trios for Challenge Records was also supported by BBT, including a promotional video filmed in Israel that balanced the humour and frictions of a peripatetic lifestyle with the seriousness of their music-making.

The Trio gave its last concerts in February 2019.

Trio Mondrian was supported with a BBT Fellowship between 2009 and 2012.
