I felt extremely happy when I received a BBT Fellowship and I keep feeling very inspired anytime I think of being part of the BBT family. What an amazing group of people! Besides the financial support they are open to help in anything and encouraging me to make my dreams come true. Thank you BBT!
Hungarian pianist Zoltán Fejérvári is an ardent chamber music player – a passion nurtured over many visits to the Marlboro Festival, under the artistic direction of Mitsuko Uchida, and at various European festivals with the likes of BBT Honorary Artistic Committee member Christian Tetzlaff. Following his win at the 2017 Concours Musical International de Montréal, his concerto performances encompass not only the classical repertoire of Mozart, Chopin and Mendelssohn and 20th century masterpieces by Bartók and Prokofiev, but also contemporary concertos.
As well as commissioning new photographs and developing a new website, Zoltán was able to source, buy and ship a piano from America. Such was the unusual nature of the instrument – a light wood grand piano – Zoltán wrote a blog about the red tape difficulties he faced in getting the piano across the Atlantic. He also recorded the solo piano music of Janáček, released on the Piano Classics label and, while in Perugia for BBT’s 15th birthday concert, BBT took the opportunity to film a video blog with him entitled Discovering Janáček. Zoltán also joined Ilaria Borletti Buitoni and Mitsuko Uchida in Budapest, when they presented the first Franco Buitoni Award to György and Márta Kurtág.
Zoltán was supported with a BBT Fellowship between 2016 and 2020.
